Many of us cannot imagine a home environment without slippers. We come home, and our feet literally change their own shoes into a comfortable home “shift”. However, slippers, like any other footwear, sooner or later wear out and get washed. But this is not a problem, but even a reason for joy! Indeed, to replace old slippers, you can sew such beautiful ones, this does not even require special expenses or a lot of time.
You will need:
- the cloth;
- thin foam rubber or other backing;
- outsole material;
- braid or tape;
- sewing accessories
In addition to the above, you will also need shoes that you will use as a stencil. In our case, these are home slippers, we circle them on the main fabric for slippers. We also outline this stencil on the sole material, for example, in our case, it is thin rubber. Then we cut everything out.
Next, we outline the stencil shoes on the backing material, for example, on thin foam rubber. All details are well ironed with an iron on a mode suitable for materials. Then we cleave the parts of the sole together in the following order: rubber sole, backing, main fabric.
Now, from the main fabric, you need to prepare the second important part of the slippers - the part that covers the upper part of the foot. To do this, cut out a rectangle from the fabric, the width of which is 2 times the width of the sole. The length of the rectangles depends on your wishes, as standard it is half the length of the sole. Fold the resulting rectangle in half, outline the rounded edge and cut it off. In total, 4 pieces of such parts are needed.
Next, cut out 2 of the same parts from the substrate and lay everything out as follows: 2 fabric parts, and between them a substrate. Then we outline an arbitrary pattern for the seams, for example, parallel lines and sew them on a sewing machine.
Now we fasten the blanks of the sole and the part covering the upper part of the foot with each other using pins. Then we take the braid or tape and sew all the parts, closing the junction of the parts with the braid.
The slippers are almost ready, it remains only to bend and either sew or glue the braid from the side of the sole.
