Recently, such a material for creativity as epoxy resin has been very popular. You can make, perhaps, anything you want from it: jewelry, dishes, furniture and even lamps. Lamps and nightlights made of epoxy resin are especially popular today. For example, you can easily make such a crescent night light yourself. It will not only illuminate, but also decorate your room, and besides, it will certainly be individual.
You will need:
- Silicone molds;
- epoxy resin;
- LED garland;
- holographic film;
- pigments
Silicone cake molds are great for working with epoxy. In our case, this is a crescent shape. And the first step is to carefully crumple the holographic film and lay it on the bottom of the mold. We cut off the excess.
Next, we put the garland inside, it needs to be distributed in the entire shape. To make it clear in which position it will look best, it is worth turning on the garland.
In principle, you can start pouring the resin. Just remember that each epoxy resin has its own maximum level of the fill layer, for example, in our case it is 2 cm. Therefore, the resin will have to be poured in several stages. However, we can cheat a little: the fact is that we can fill 1 layer under the holographic film, and 2 - on top. However, the maximum layer thickness must still be respected, otherwise the resin will heat up too much.
You can also add gloss to the resin with pigment. In addition, due to the pigment, the light inside the night light will scatter a little and the lights will not burn with clear dots. You can also add pieces of cut film to the resin for even more shine, including by reflecting light.
For the back of the luminaire, that is, for the last layer of resin, white pigment should be used. Then it will be possible to hang the night light even on a dark wall and it will not get lost. In addition, the light will be reflected from the opaque wall and the night light will be brighter. When the resin hardens, we simply smooth out the edges and irregularities with a buff.
