An ordinary office chair can be easily converted into a stylish piece of furniture if desired. There won't even be a trace of the boring worn upholstery, and the chair will retain its previous functionality. To the uninitiated, it will seem that they bought it in a cool salon and not at all at a bargain price.
The essence of the alteration is to carefully disassemble the chair, change the upholstery, repaint the body and put it back together. It is not necessary to disassemble the frame with wheels. It is enough to unscrew the backrest, armrests, small parts and remove the seat. After that, all plastic parts should be well wiped, and ideally degreased.
The next step is to remove the old upholstery from the seat and backrest.
Quality foam has stood the test of time and does not require replacement.
We make new upholstery without preliminary cutting. Just put the backrest on the fabric spread face down and cut it out, taking into account the allowances sufficient for the fold. In this case, the upholstery consists of two types of fabric: fleece and fur. We attach the upholstery to the back with a stapler. Stretch and secure both layers at the same time.
We do the same with the seat. The basis for the seat is plywood, which means that it is not necessary to get rid of the old upholstery. But in this case, the allowances, and accordingly the consumption of the upholstery fabric, will have to be increased so that the staples do not have to be attached to the existing ones.
Painting of plastic parts is best done outside the apartment or on the balcony. An old cardboard box was perfect for placing the backrest during the painting and drying phase. This allows you to completely cover the entire surface with paint, which will be visible after assembly.
We cover the frame, armrests, clamps, and other small parts with a primer. We preliminarily cover the place of work with paper or cellophane, especially taking into account the fact that spray paint is used.
Let the painted parts dry completely.
The next step is to paint the same parts with the selected color. After that, it remains only to wait until it is completely dry and to collect the updated chair.
