Perhaps we all love simple, but at the same time very tasty and original recipes. It is especially good if this simplicity is present both in the preparation of the dish and in its ingredients. For example, for such a delicious potato pita, in fact, only 2 ingredients are needed! It turns out to be very tasty and crispy. Moreover, such pita is good both cold and hot, and with filling, and even without it!
You will need:
- flour - 250 g;
- potatoes - 2-3 pcs. medium size;
- vegetable oil - 1 tbsp. l.;
- salt - 1 tsp;
- spices to taste;
- water - 30-40 ml
Potatoes for pita need boiled in their uniforms. When it's ready, let the potatoes cool, and then rub them on a fine grater. Now you can knead the dough. To do this, first sift the flour and mix in salt and spices to taste, for example, in our case, these are dried green onions and paprika.
Next, add potatoes to the flour with salt and spices, grind them thoroughly with each other. Finally we add water, but not all at once, but gradually, depending on the consistency of the dough. You may not even need all the water. The dough should not be soft, but rather dense. We also mix vegetable oil into the finished dough. We roll it into a ball, cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest for about 15 minutes.
Cut the rested dough into 10 pieces, which will make 10 pits. First, roll each piece into a ball and grease it with oil, and then roll it out as thin as possible. Cover the resulting cakes with plastic wrap so that they do not dry out, waiting for their turn.
You need to fry pita bread in a large amount of well-heated oil. The tortilla must be dipped under the butter all the time, this is the only way it opens and a pocket is formed. To do this, without stopping, pour boiling oil over the cake with a spoon, scooping it up from all sides. Pitas are fried very quickly, just a couple of minutes.
Hot potato pitas are very crispy and resemble chips. When they cool down, they will become softer and perfect for any filling.
