At all times, ladies of even the highest position loved to do needlework, and of course, tools for this important occupation were often made by master jewelers from precious metals, and were decorated in every possible way. So scissors, thimbles, handicraft tables and pincases became art objects in their own right.
Looking at my instruments, I thought: how simple and unpretentious everything is now. No beauty for you: scissors are like scissors (the main thing is to be sharp), I haven’t learned how to use a thimble, the only grandmother’s simple one in holes lies somewhere in long-forgotten boxes with her embroidery threads. The pin cushion is so-so, an unremarkable pad, and the centimeter tape is ordinary, neatly rolled into a roll.
But after looking through these photos of antique tools for needlework, my creative nature whined and groaned uncontrollably at the sight of this incredible beauty.
