Forget about ridiculous photowall-paper from the times of the nineties - modern photowall-paper can become a decoration of any room, if you avoid gross mistakes in their choice.
Modern wall murals can become a bright accent and stylish addition to any interior. They are used to refresh the look of a room, zone a room or visually enlarge a space.
But in order to achieve the desired effect, it is important to avoid gross mistakes that apartment owners often make when choosing photo wallpapers.
Let's talk about the most common ones
1. Photo wallpaper does not match the general style of the room
Photowall-paper is chosen for the whole interior and must correspond to its general idea. An image of a cozy European town is perfect for a Provence style kitchen, but the New York panorama will look strange. The image of snow-capped peaks is not suitable for a Victorian bedroom, but it will decorate a room decorated in an eco-style.

2. Color mismatch
Don't forget about color! It is quite possible to use the color-block technique and choose wallpaper in a contrasting color if you are decorating a room in high-tech, contemporary or boho style. For quieter and more classic interiors, choose a wallpaper that matches the main colors of the furniture and walls.

3. More than one indoor image
One wall decorated with photowall-paper is quite enough: it is a bright style solution that attracts attention. The second image in the room is overkill. If you want to "cover" two walls at once, choose corner wallpaper with a panoramic pattern.

4. Betting on an image that is too small or too large
Wall murals with a pattern that makes you dazzle, overload the nervous system and look intrusive. Unfortunately, ten-to-one images do not look any better: giant flowers or an oversized meadow with grass. Wall murals on which objects are depicted on a more or less realistic scale look harmoniously.

5. Incorrect zoning using photo wallpaper
Wall murals are a great tool for zoning space. They emphasize the spirit of each zone and give the room a special atmosphere. But you should avoid interior solutions in which the wallpaper will be located on the border between the zones: in this way, the division of space will be violated, and all the beauty of the wallpaper will disappear.

6. Arrangement of furniture against the background of photo wallpaper
A wall decorated with photo wallpaper should not be cluttered with furniture, otherwise there is simply no point in them. This is especially important when choosing wallpaper with a perspective. In a small size, use narrow panoramic wallpaper - they will become an interesting accent in the interior and will not occupy the entire wall.

7. Incorrectly selected lighting
Pros do not recommend placing wallpaper on the wall opposite the window: possible glare will spoil the impression. Photomurals of dark color on the wall of the room on the shady side are also not the best solution. On the other hand, a darker pattern can be preferred to create comfort in a well-lit room. Wall murals look beautiful with additional illumination located on the sides on the wall or next to the floor.

8. "Dynamic" wallpaper in the bedroom
In recreational areas, it is best not to use wallpaper with skyscrapers or busy city streets. Such images can decorate a living room, hallway or study. For the bedroom, choose more soothing images of nature.

9. Superfluous details
You should not decorate a wall pasted over with photowall-paper with pictures, hang a TV or shelves on it. Otherwise, you will only disrupt the perception of the image and overload the interior. All these items are always best placed on the side of the walls.

10. Poor selection of wallpaper for a small room
For a small or narrow room, choose light wallpaper with a large pattern: they will visually expand the space. To create the illusion of a higher ceiling, rely on elongated images: trees, mountains, towers with spiers. Wall murals depicting a street or sea bay receding into the distance will help to visually adjust the area of a small bathroom or a cramped corridor.
