The secret of a square ottoman in the hallway lies in the simplicity of its manufacture. An ottoman with dimensions (40 × 40 × 45) and decorative straps you can easily make at home.
You will need the following materials:
- Chipboard or plywood;
- wooden bar;
- synthetic winterizer, polyurethane foam sheet (foam rubber) 40 mm thick;
- upholstery material (microfiber, velor, tapestry, etc.);
- non-woven fabric;
- glue for working with polyurethane foam;
- self-tapping screws (3.5 × 45mm);
- furniture staples;
- nylon threads or nylon braid;
- plastic legs.
The following tools (can be replaced with more accessible ones):
- screwdriver or screwdriver;
- construction stapler;
- glue gun;
- sewing machine;
- marker;
- scissors.
Stages of making a square pouf (in advance to make a cover according to the size of a cube with a braid for tightening):


Attach the side walls to the timber (3 self-tapping screws on each side).


Attach the seat cover.

Glue the foam around the entire perimeter of the walls and seat.

Mark and drill holes for tightening. Glue the synthetic winterizer around the entire perimeter of the walls and seat.

Put on the prepared cover.


Thread the tie strap through the holes.

We pull the fabric into the holes until we get “pits”.

Fasten the braid with staples from the inside of the pouf.

Fasten the cover allowance to the bottom end of the walls with staples.

Close the bottom with non-woven fabric, securing it with staples.

Screw the legs in the corners from the bottom.
