If you are looking for some new and different activity that would easily entice both adults and children, then it is quite possible that twisting is what you need!
Such an unusual term means a completely common, but not yet so common occupation, which consists in creating all kinds of figures from balloons of various shapes.
Previously, finding people who would be able to fold oblong figures into bizarre and unusual figures could only be found in a circus or in an amusement park.

Now everyone can master such an exciting activity, because, in fact, the technology is not difficult, and special balls can be easily found on sale.
Of course, from the very beginning you will not be able to create complex and unique compositions, because, as in any creative business, certain skills, experience and, of course, patience are required here.
Serious twister designers have long gone from small figurines and primitive animals to whole works of art - magnificent sculptures, castles and difficult compositions, you can even find clothes that are also made from balloons. Such masterpieces, by right, can easily compete with the usual outfits made of fabric or other materials.
Usually, all modeling from balloons is conventionally divided into two types: monosyllabic and polysyllabic modeling.
As, probably, it is not hard to guess, they also differ in the number of balls used to create the figures. In the first case, all modeling consists in working with one ball, from which incredible compositions are created, and the second option is the use of balls of different color, size and texture, from which one common figure is obtained.

People who do this on a professional level usually choose one direction, because even if it seems to you that twisting is quite simple, you are wrong. It will take a lot of time, desire and patience before you start making really serious models.
How to make shapes from balloons with your own hands?
To get started, you have to figure out the necessary tools at hand to help you create amazing creations. For twisting, special balloons are used for modeling, they differ from ordinary ones in their weight, even if they are pumped with helium, they still will not float in the air.

They come in different lengths and diameters, differ in color and manufacturer. In addition to balls, you will need scissors to cut off excess balls, double-sided tape and a black marker, but this is for more complex models.
Every novice twister must master a few basic rules, without which you will definitely not be able to do any modeling. So, let's list them and remember them.
- The balloon should always be inflated not completely, leaving the tail not inflated, which makes it possible to make as many bubbles as possible for modeling. Initially, you need to decide how many of them you need, and then leave the required length of the tail, because it is into it that all the air that is pinched in the process will go.
- For beginner twisters, it is better to use slightly soft balls, because they are much easier to twist and squeeze, but this, of course, does not apply to professionals.
- Remember that all modeling always starts from the head of the ball, which provides for free space near its tail, where all unnecessary air accumulates.
- All twists should be performed in one direction, for example, strictly from oneself or to oneself, one twist should have a rotation of at least 360 degrees, since otherwise the knocking between individual bubbles will not work.
- Be sure to pull on the tips before inflating the balloon, otherwise it may inflate unevenly or burst when inflated.
- All professional balloon inflators use dedicated hand or electric compressors.
How to make simple figures from balloons: diagrams and recommendations
Of course, you immediately want to do something extraordinarily beautiful and complex, because it is so tempting to make your favorite cartoon character, an unusual bouquet or some kind of person.
But we suggest you start small in order to acquire practical skills and understand how to work with such unusual material. We offer you a variant of a simple heart, which consists of only two balls. But first, you can work with a simplified lesson - let's make a heart!

Take a red balloon, pump it up, leaving only a couple of centimeters of free space. We tie its beginning and end, forming a ring. And now in the center, where the notch for the top of the heart should be formed, we fold it so that it obediently acquires the desired shape, you can twist it a little so that the ball does not tend to its original position. The heart is ready!
Balloon flower
We only need 2 balls - red and green. First we inflate the red one, from which we will make the head of the flower, leave the tip about 3 cm, and then tie a knot.
Now we tie the beginning and end of the ball into two knots, bend it in half and twist it in the middle 2 times. Now we divide the formed halves into more than three equal parts, after which we twist each of the sides in two places between ourselves.

We fold our "petals" into an accordion, after which we take with the thumb and forefinger of one hand in those places where the twists touch, and with the other hand we twist three petals, forming a flower.
Now let's make a stalk. To do this, inflate a green balloon and leave a small free tip so that the balloon itself is slightly soft. We retreat from the knot about 10 centimeters, after which in this place we bend and twist the ball so that the knot crosses over with the place of twisting.
Now we insert our stem into the center of the flower, bend and twist to get a leaf. You can please your loved ones with such a cute flower, and if you combine several such flowers, you can make a bouquet that can be put in the same homemade basket of balls.

By the way, the art of twisting has gone so far that you can even add wedding figures from the balls, for example, arches, which are often ordered by young people from marriage agencies on their wedding day for on-site painting.
In addition, amazingly beautiful arches in the form of a heart or rings, garlands of balls and much more are created, which, by the way, can be done independently if you master certain practical skills and abilities.
