Making a chair cover with your own hands is easy:

When choosing a fabric, I recommend that you focus on durable pure linen, as well as a mixture of linen with viscose or polyester.

If you are settling on a completely natural fabric, then do not forget that many materials can shrink after washing, so wash and iron the fabric before starting work.

How to calculate the consumption of fabric for a chair cover with your own hands.

At first glance, it seems that the fabric for the chair cover requires little, but this is an illusion. A chair with a cover in the form of a skirt will take about 1.3-1.5 m of fabric 150 cm wide. Depending on the size of this skirt, the presence of gathers, etc., one chair can take up to 2 m of fabric. And if you want to make the cover double, feel free to double this amount of fabric.

We sew a cover for a chair with our own hands

1. First, let's make a pattern. Place a piece of paper against the back and seat, and draw a pencil around them. Then cut and adjust the pattern by placing it on the chair to check.

2. Pay particular attention to the legs, which can expand downward. Make a markup on the drawn patterns and take them as a basis for building a pattern. Make the rest of the details based on the calculations. Place all details according to the share. If you're worried about ruining your fabric, make trial covers out of cheap material.

3. Then we cut out the resulting patterns, fasten them with pins in the fabric and circle them with chalk. Then we cut out all the parts from the fabric, leaving 1 cm for seam allowances. You can sew the edges with a zigzag stitch. We sweep the details with a profit with thread, try on the future chair cover and, if everything sits well, we sew the details on a sewing machine. We pull out the outline.

4. Well, we just have to iron the cover with an iron, smoothing the seams, and put it on the chair.

5. To prevent the covers from slipping, you need to fix them on the legs of the chair with strings at the corners or at the edges to make a fold, and then insert an elastic band or lace into it. This will securely fix the case.
