After visiting bridal salons and boutiques, I came to the conclusion that I was not ready to buy a second veil especially for a bachelorette party.
It seemed to me that 2000 rubles. (no, I'm not kidding) too much for a bachelorette party veil. For obvious reasons, I didn't want to use my real wedding veil. Therefore, I made it with my own hands and spent only 150 rubles. It took me about half an hour.
The great thing is that it can be done in any style and any length with these simple steps.
Stage 1: Materials
Materials you need:
Tulle or chiffon (possibly both!). The quantity depends on how long and from how many layers you want to sew the veil. Its length is 50 cm, and sometimes it is 3 meters, so what you like best
It is generally recommended that you choose a length from the crown of your head to your fingertips. So I measured this distance and I got 106 cm. I planned to sew a two-layer veil, so this figure needs to be doubled, i.e. it turns out 212 cm.
Hairpin or comb to secure the veil
- Tape or cord for piping (quantity depends on the final length of the veil)
- Veil decoration
Stage 2: Cutting
I really liked the veil that I saw in one of the salons, it was diamond-shaped. I tried to do something similar. Cutting the fabric diagonally left a feeling of lightness, which I really liked. But the simplest version of the veil for a bachelorette party will simply be with a straight edge.
I folded the tulle in half and drew an outline on the floor with chalk.
Then I cut the fabric along the chalk line! When you do this, you are left with a large piece of tulle.
Stage 3: Border
There are many ways to trim the edge of your veil.
For me, the easiest option was to use a sewing machine attachment. It took me about 10 minutes to overcast the entire length.
If you use a tape, then it is better to sew it with a straight line on a sewing machine, stepping back from the edge from 1.5 to 2.5 cm.Of course, this can be done manually. But it will take much longer. After sewing on, you need to cut off the remaining edge so that the tape becomes the new edge of the veil.
The most remarkable thing about this is that when you sew a veil with your own hands, then you are free to choose, you can combine different colors, give an unusual shape, in general, show your imagination.
Stage 4: Build
Assemble the edge to which you are going to sew a comb or hairpin. It is not necessary to do this on a sewing machine, you can do it by hand.
Next, we sew a hairpin.
As additional decorations, you can add rhinestones or butterflies like mine. You can fix it on hot melt glue or sew on.
Stage 5: Fitting
Now you can try on, spin around and take pictures! Everyone liked my idea to put on a veil, many asked me how and what. I am very pleased with the result and there were only positive reviews at the bachelorette party. It is interesting to know your opinion.
