In every home there are old or unnecessary things that, nevertheless, the hand does not rise to throw away. And the needlewomen also have a lot of leftovers - scraps of fabric, small skeins of yarn …

We invite you to knit bright and original rugs from all this. The method that we will talk about has been known for a very long time. Its peculiarity is that the rug is knitted not from the cut strips of fabric themselves, but these strips are tied with threads. Such a rug turns out to be much lighter and softer than usual, dries faster after washing. The advantage of this method is that absolutely any leftovers can be used - any fabrics, any yarn.

These rugs used old T-shirts and remnants of bright yarn. Some of the yarn was literally a couple of meters long, but it came in handy. Do not worry that faded and washed-out T-shirts will look the same in the rug, it is the yarn that will fix everything.

So, cut T-shirts (we needed 3 pieces for one rug) or cut fabrics into strips at least 2 cm wide. For convenience, they can be rolled into balls.

The hook can also be taken in any size. If you pick up the hook according to the thickness of the yarn, then the rug will come out more dense. And if you take a large hook, then knitting will be faster, but the rug will turn out to be looser. This almost does not affect its functionality, so do as you like.

Roll a ring out of the tape:

In this ring, knit single crochet stitches. Their number depends on the diameter of the ring - the wider it is, the more columns there should be. You can't put much into a tight ring, but you need at least 10 so that the knitting does not tighten and in the future you get a circle, not a cone.

Knitting in a circle - we knit a regular flat circle. To do this, do not forget to make increments in each circular row.

Little secret: so that the circle does not bend into the "bowl", then the increments must be made not strictly uniformly, but with a shift. So that the increments in the next (upper) row are located between the increments of the previous (lower) row. Periodically lay out the circle on the floor - it is so clearly visible where it is necessary to make more increments, and where less.

We only work with thread! And put the tape on top. It turns out that we kind of wrap it with single crochet posts.

When the tape ends, you need to attach the next one. You can simply overlay one on top of the other:

Or insert one into the other:

In both cases, ponytails will still stick out.

So we knit to the desired size of the rug or until the T-shirts with yarn run out.
